Volunteers are an essential part of the Progress West HealthCare team, serving in every department of the hospital. We truly appreciate the time our volunteers devote to the patients and their families.

When you become a Progress West volunteer, you'll have pride knowing you're making your community hospital an even better place for your neighbors, family and friends.

We’re currently recruiting volunteers for the following departments:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is required to volunteer at Progress West?
Volunteers must:
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Complete an application with two references
  • Have had chicken pox or have received the chicken pox vaccine
  • Show documentation of immunizations
  • Undergo screening for TB (provided)
  • Undergo fire and safety training (provided)
  • Provide a Court Record Release for a background check
  • Obtain HIPAA (Patient Privacy) training

Additional requirements may apply to specific programs.

How do I apply?
Once you identify a program that interests you, contact the Volunteer manager at 636.344.1072. She will assist you through the application process.

Do you have any evening or weekend volunteer opportunities?
Yes, we offer evening and weekend opportunities but on a limited basis. Some of the programs that offer flexible hours include:

  • Emergency Department
  • Patient Care Services
  • Guest Relations

Can I volunteer if I'm not 18?
Volunteers must be 18 or older.

What about safety on the job?
Even though volunteers provide only non-clinical support services, it's important that safety policies are understood and followed; therefore, all volunteers receive training regarding:

  • Fire
  • Universal precautions (The wearing of protective clothing, such as medical gloves, goggles and face shields)
  • Blood-borne pathogens
  • Infection control
  • Chemical and radiation
  • Patient privacy laws

What about training?
All volunteers are required to attend and complete a hospital orientation and a department-specific orientation. Some volunteer positions might require additional training.

Where do I park?
A free parking lot for patients and visitors is available adjacent to the hospital.

Can I volunteer over the summer?
Unfortunately, due to the costs incurred to train volunteers, there are no short-term opportunities. We ask for four hours of volunteer time per week, with a one-year commitment.
