Progress West Sponsors Countywide Health Assessment

Progress West HealthCare Center sponsored Healthy Communities St. Charles County (HCSCC) in a countywide health needs assessment. The survey provides a snapshot of the community's overall health, and assists in targeting outreach and wellness programs.

"Partnering with Health Communities St. Charles County for a countywide health assessment is important for Progress West because the health and wellness of the community is one of our top priorities. We can use the information collected to customize the services we provide to the community," says John Antes, president, Progress West.

"The health of our community is everyone's business. Almost 1,000 residents of St. Charles County completed the survey, which will help us continue to work to make St. Charles County the healthiest place to live, work and play," says Nicole Kozma, executive director, Healthy Communities St. Charles County. "Since the last survey in 2004 so many things have changed in this community; the population has grown, we have more choices for health care, and childhood obesity continues to rise."

In January 2000, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched Healthy People 2010, a comprehensive, nationwide health promotion and disease prevention agenda. The assessment will measure how the St. Charles County community measures in several of the 28 focus areas and if objectives will be achieved by 2010.
